The College of Humanities, in collaboration with the Humanities Seminar Program (HSP) and the Poetry Center, is excited to announce a donor -funded green space renovation project in the alleyway to the south of the Poetry Center, slated for construction in the 2025 summer. The renovation is designed by Line and Space Architects (the same firm that designed the Helen S. Schaefer Building, the Poetry Center's home), and will be constructed by Lloyd Construction. Incorporating design elements from the building, the green space will provide exciting new opportunities for gatherings of all kinds--from school field trips to class visits to receptions to large scale poetry events--and will increase the indoor/outdoor usability of the facility. Construction is slated to start soon after the University of Arizona's commencement ceremonies on May 16th. To support the work, the Poetry Center library will be closed to the public beginning the week of May 19 and will reopen on Tuesday, July 8th--we look forward to welcoming you back!
Many many thanks to the donor who have supported this project. Stay tuned for opening events celebrating completion to come in the fall!
