Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest is a national program for high-school students and teachers that seeks to foster the next generation of literary readers by capitalizing on the latest trends in poetry – recitation and performance. The National Endowment for the Arts and The Poetry Foundation partner with state arts agencies to bring the Poetry Out Loud program to all 50 states and the US territories. The deadline for teachers to sign up and register their school for the 2020-2021 POL season is November 23rd, 2020. 

2020-2021 Timeline

October 5, 2020 – School Registration Opens
October 31, 2020 – Request for poet visit must be received
November 23, 2020 – School Registration Closes
February 2021 – Virtual Southern Region Competition (Date TBD)
March 2021 – Virtual Arizona State Finals, Phoenix Burton Barr Central Library (Date TBD) 
Spring 2020  – Virtual POL National Finals (Date TBD)
